RELOADING PRESSES
There are many makes of reloading presses to choose from, each manufacturer has their own way of achieving the end result. As with any pastime there appears to be a bewildering amount of equipment, with even greater bewildering price ranges. The choice of press will depend on how many handloads you intend to use and the range of calibres. One of the more popular presses is the RCBS Rock Chucker as shown in the photograph.

SCALES
There are several makes of scales available to the handloader these range from the simple beam type scale to the more sophisticated electronic types, all have good and not so good points. If you want absolute accuracy in weighing your charges and can guarantee a  draft and vibration free area then they are unbeatable. If not then a beam type scale is quite capable of good accuracy in normal handloading conditions. The one shown in the photograph is the RCBS 1010 scale.

CASE TRIMMER
After firing a cartridge, the empty case length must be checked and measured. As with all pressure vessels a certain amount of growth in in the case length can be expected and if ignored will lead to bullet seating and COL problems. This in turn could lead to over pressure and poor accuracy. Shown in the photograph is the RCBS Trim Pro Kit, this comes complete with several different calibre centres and a rotating cutter.

CASE TRIMMER 2
Is this the ultimate case trimmer?

AUTO PRIME
Most single stage and progressive presses usually have a built in priming system. But many handloaders prefer to prime cases as a separate operation. One of the ways of achieving this  use a hand operated priming  tool. The one shown in the photograph is the LEE AUTO-PRIME which is a very positive easy to use and relatively inexpensive.

CASES

Shown in the photograph are clean and inspected cases ready for de-capping and sizing.

BULLETS
Depending on what type of shooting you want to do will require you to select the make, type and weight of bullet. I believe that if you are serious about reloading and want to improve your shooting then select good quality bullets which might cost more but will give you pay back in better results or scores. The ones shown in the photograph are Sierra Matchking Hollow Point Boat Tail target bullets.

CASE CLEANING
Photograph shows a RCBS vibratory case cleaner which is an essential piece of equipment.

PRIMERS
Typical makes of primers used used in handloading.

POWDER
Shown here is a selection of reloading powders available to the handloader.

RELOADING DIES
There are many makers of reloading dies from standard dies to custom and competition dies. The photograph shows RCBS competition dies.

DIGITAL CALIPER

The photograph shows the use of a digital calliper to measure the CARTRIDGE OVERALL LENGTH

of a finished cartridge. The use of the digital calliper takes the guess work  out of measuring the finished cartridge length.

POWDER MEASURING

This shows the final measured charge ready to be poured into a .308 win case.

CARTRIDGE STORAGE
Proper cartridge storage and reloading information are essential, the storage box shown is a MTM CASE- GARD medium calibre box with a 50 cartridge capacity.

POWDER TRICKLER
The powder trickler shown is a RCBS type and is very useful for making the final powder charge weight by trickeling the powder grain by grain into the powder pan on the scales.

POWDER FUNNEL
A Powder  Funnel is used to drop the powder charge from the powder pan  into the empty cartridge case, the one shown is a RCBS type.

RELOADING MANUALS

Reloading Manuals are a MUST in any reloading operation and its up to the individual to choose which manuals suite the calibres they wish to reload.

DIGITAL SCALES
This photograph shows the RCBS POWDERMASTER AND POWDER PRO DIGITAL SCALES. The two items are linked by a infra-red connection which is activated by programming the scales and dispenser so that they "talk to each other". This item is a serious investment money wise, BUT if you intend to do a lot of reloading and require constant and accurate powder charges, go for it, I did!!
